How to make mini BBQ chicken flatbreads
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (218°C). Put the mini flatbreads on a lined sheet pan with some space between them.
- In a small bowl, toss the cooked shredded chicken with about half the barbecue sauce. Keep raw meat utensils separate from cooked ingredients if you prepared the chicken earlier.
- Spread a very thin layer of remaining sauce on the naan, leaving the edge mostly clear to help it crisp.
- Divide the chicken evenly among the flatbreads. Sprinkle with cheese and a little thinly sliced red onion.
- Bake for approximately 8–12 minutes until edges crisp and cheese melts. If using refrigerated cooked chicken as leftovers, check that the center of the topping reaches 165°F (74°C). Continue heating as needed; ovens and topping thickness vary.
- Let rest 2–3 minutes, then add cilantro or scallions and cut into small pieces for sharing.

Two drinks that suit smoky barbecue
Simple iced lemonade
Serve ½ cup cold lemonade diluted with ¼ cup cold water over ice, then squeeze in a little lemon. Diluting the drink can keep the barbecue sweetness from becoming overpowering.
Sparkling berry water
In a glass, lightly crush 2–3 washed berries, add ice and ¾ cup unsweetened sparkling water. Finish with a lime wedge. This is a flavor pairing, not a claim of nutritional benefit.
Ways to make the snack your own
- Milder: skip the onion or add it after baking in a smaller amount.
- Spicier: add sliced pickled jalapeños after baking rather than making every serving hot.
- Vegetarian variation: replace chicken with thoroughly heated canned chickpeas, but treat it as a different recipe.
- Extra crisp: keep sauce very thin and do not overfill the flatbreads.
- Less sweet: choose a tangier barbecue sauce.
Mistakes that make mini flatbreads soggy
- Using too much barbecue sauce under the cheese
- Adding cold, wet or very thick toppings
- Using large chicken chunks that do not reheat evenly
- Crowding the tray so edges cannot brown
- Serving much later, after steam has softened the crust
Can I use rotisserie chicken?
Yes, provided it was fully cooked, stored safely and handled with clean utensils. If using refrigerated leftovers, follow the USDA guidance for reheating to 165°F. Do not mix fresh raw chicken into a short-bake flatbread recipe and assume eight minutes will be enough.
Is this budget-friendly?
Using already cooked chicken may save preparation steps, but not every store’s rotisserie chicken is inexpensive. Estimate the cost from actual portions of flatbread, cooked chicken, sauce and cheese; do not quote an unverified universal per-serving price.
Food safety, allergens and leftovers
This recipe typically contains wheat and milk, and barbecue sauces may include other allergens. Refrigerate perishable ingredients and leftovers promptly. Food safety authorities recommend reheating leftovers to 165°F (74°C) and refrigerating food within two hours of preparation or serving, or one hour above 90°F (32°C).
