Crispy edges, fluffy centers, and a tangy drink on the side. These garlic-paprika potato wedges make a fun shareable snack without a deep fryer. You need basic ingredients and an air fryer. Serve with quick yogurt dip, citrus sparkling water, or chilled iced tea.

Editor’s note: These are original explanatory cooking directions, but this exact batch has not been independently prepared or taste-tested by our editorial team. Times are estimates; appliance models, potato sizes, and basket capacity vary.

BASKET SPACE MATTERS

How to make air-fryer potato wedges

  1. Scrub the potatoes thoroughly under running water. Remove any green or damaged areas. Cut each potato lengthwise into evenly sized wedges, about ½–¾ inch thick at the widest point.
  2. Rinse away surface starch if desired, then dry the wedges thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel. Excess surface water makes browning harder.
  3. Toss the wedges with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder and salt until coated evenly.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) if recommended by the manufacturer. Arrange the wedges in a fairly even layer, cooking in batches if needed; avoid filling above the basket’s recommended limit.
  5. Air fry for about 25–35 minutes as a starting window. Shake or turn after roughly 12–15 minutes and begin checking for doneness near 22–25 minutes. Size and appliance airflow affect timing. Continue only as needed until golden and easily pierced with a fork.
  6. Rest for a moment, taste, then add parsley, lemon or a pinch of seasoning. Serve with dip on the side.

A one-minute lemon-herb yogurt dip

Stir ¼ cup plain unsweetened yogurt, ½ teaspoon lemon juice, and a small pinch of dried herbs. Adjust taste gradually. Refrigerate the dip until serving. This optional dip contains dairy; try a suitable nondairy option if needed.

Easy snack pairing illustration: crispy potato wedges, lemon-cucumber sparkle and iced tea

Original Bite & Sip Picks infographic. Illustrative flavor suggestions, not a taste-test finding.

Two simple no-alcohol drinks

1. Lemon-cucumber sparkle

Add 2 cucumber slices, a squeeze of lemon and ice to a glass. Top with ¾–1 cup chilled sparkling water. The light flavor offers a refreshing contrast to paprika and crispy potatoes.

2. Unsweetened iced tea

Serve iced black tea or decaffeinated tea with lemon wedges. It is easy to prepare in advance, and guests can adjust the tartness themselves.

Optional adult pairing

For adults of legal drinking age who choose to drink, a mild lager may fit this savory snack. Alcohol is optional, never required, and this website does not facilitate alcohol purchases.

Make the wedges better

  • Cut them evenly: thick wedges may need longer than thin ones.
  • Dry before seasoning: wet wedges tend to steam.
  • Do not overcrowd: split into two batches if the basket is small.
  • Check rather than trust the timer: ovens and air fryers behave differently.
  • Season to taste: paprika adds color, while salt should be adjusted to your preference.

What could this cost?

There is no honest nationwide ‘under $2’ promise without dated supermarket prices. To work out a snack budget, count the actual portion of potatoes, oil, seasonings and optional dip you use. Discount prices and package sizes differ by store.

Food safety and storage

Wash produce and keep utensils clean. Refrigerate any dairy-based dip promptly. Store cooked potato leftovers in a shallow container and refrigerate within 2 hours (1 hour above 90°F / 32°C). USDA guidance generally recommends consuming refrigerated leftovers within 3–4 days and reheating leftovers to 165°F (74°C).
